25th Annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival - June 6-8.  The Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival offers top-name entertainment, wine tasting in the Wine Garden, a Kids Faire, Arts & Crafts and commercial exhibits, as well as a Food Court.  Wine tasting features different premium wines from numerous Temecula Valley wineries, as well as others from Southern California.  http://www.tvbwf.com/

KPBS Celebrates Gorgeously Green with Author Sophie Uliano, Thursday, June 12, 6 p.m. at The New Children's Museum.  Come to downtown San Diego's newest green building to hear the author of Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life discuss ways you can help preserve the environment - easily and economically. Enjoy great food, too, with locally produced ingredients and find out about companies with ecologically sound products and services. Tickets start at $25 for KPBS Members. 11th San Diego Real Ale Festival - Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at Pizza Port, Carlsbad.  The event will feature more than 45 cask-conditioned ales. A wide range of beers will be available from session ales and pales ales to IPAs, brown ales and stouts.  The festival will run from 4 - 11 pm on Friday and 11 am - 11 pm on Saturday.  There will also be a special VIP session on Friday the 13th from 1- 4 pm featuring a selection of bottled real ales and special casks including Lost Abbey's Angel's Share Barleywine.  http://www.sandiegobrewersguild.org/

Food for Thought Film Series - Saturday, August 16, 6 p.m.  "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" will be shown at the Joyce Beers Center in Hillcrest. San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project, in partnership with Slow Food San Diego begins a "Food For Thought" film series taking place at venues throughout San Diego. The series will highlight issues relating to food and community.  Admission is free. The film explores one eccentric man's effort to save his family farm and how he did this by engaging the help of local eaters.  For more information, please email SD Roots at roots@sandiegoroots.org
