Join the Women's Museum of a virtual unveiling of our outdoor mural "Waves of Feminism". We will be joined by the creative team behind the creation of the mural to talk about the inspiration behind the project and how the mural came to be. During the program, we will show off the finished mural, learn about the different waves of feminism and the central issues that sperate each era, and get to know artist Katie Ruiz and her creative process. "Waves of Feminism" Mural Team: Katie Ruiz is a Xicana artist who resides in San Diego, CA. She was raised in Los Angeles and Northern Arizona. Ruiz has a strong connection with nature and often uses natural objects like rocks, shells, leaves and sticks in her weavings and Sculptures. Dr. Sue Gonda earned her Ph.D. in U.S. and Women's History from UCLA. She taught at Grossmont College, serving as chair of both the History and Cross-Cultural Studies Departments and as Academic Senate President. She also taught women's history in SDSU’s Women’s Studies for 24 years. She still teaches multi-cultural U.S. and women’s history part-time at Grossmont and has numerous articles, grants, and awards to her credit.
